The Consultation Process - Cosmetic Aesthetics. What to expect.
Empire Cosmetic Clinic – Where Less is More
When booking a cosmetic aesthetics consultation, it’s natural to have questions about what to expect. At Empire Cosmetic Clinic, we believe that informed clients make empowered decisions. Here’s what typically happens during a consultation and why each step matters:
1. Review of Medical History
Your practitioner will ask about any relevant medical conditions, medications, allergies, or past cosmetic procedures. If you’ve had cosmetic injectables before, it’s important to share details such as what product was used, how much, and when. This helps ensure your safety and the best possible results. We’ll also ask about cold sores and recent vaccinations, as these may affect your treatment plan.
2. Understanding Practitioner Specialties
Not all practitioners offer the same treatments. At Empire, we focus on mastering the services that are most commonly requested by our clients. If a treatment falls outside our scope, we’ll let you know and may refer you to someone more appropriate. To avoid any surprises, it’s helpful to share your goals when booking.
3. Discussion of Treatment Areas
You’ll have the chance to talk openly about your concerns—whether it’s softening lines, restoring volume, or simply not feeling “quite like yourself” when you look in the mirror. You don’t need to know the exact treatment name. Just explaining what bothers you and why gives us the insight to recommend the best path forward.
4. Setting Expectations
We’ll talk honestly about what results are realistically achievable and whether your goals match the treatment being considered. Sometimes a client requests one treatment when another would be more suitable. Your practitioner will help guide you through your options with transparency and care.
5. Risks and Side Effects
A core part of any consultation is understanding potential risks. These may include swelling, bruising, bleeding, infection, or allergic reaction. In the case of dermal fillers, we will also discuss the (rare) risk of vascular occlusion and explain how this is managed—including the option to reverse the treatment if necessary.
6. Aftercare Advice
You’ll receive specific aftercare guidance tailored to the treatment you’ve had. Neuromodulators and dermal fillers have different aftercare requirements, and following these correctly helps reduce risks and improve outcomes. This is always discussed before and after treatment.
7. Treatment Costs and Ongoing Plan
Your consultation includes a discussion about the cost of treatment—not just the initial session, but also the expected frequency and cost of future visits if ongoing maintenance is part of your plan. We understand that budget matters, and we’ll work with you to create a personalised approach that aligns with your needs.
8. Time for Consideration
For new clients, we typically do not perform dermal filler treatments on the same day as the consultation. This is a vital part of our duty of care. You’ll receive all the information needed to make an informed decision—and we encourage you to take time to reflect before proceeding. If you're planning treatment around a particular event, be sure to allow time for both consultation and follow-up.
9. Our Approach: Judgement-Free and Ethical
We’re a judgement-free clinic where your questions and concerns are always welcome. Our motto is less is more—we focus on natural, subtle outcomes that enhance your features without over-treatment. If at any point we feel that your expectations don’t align with safe, realistic results, we may recommend an alternative or advise against treatment altogether. Your wellbeing is our highest priority.
